Since I left my camera at choir practice on the 31st and didn't get it back until June 2nd, I had to make do with the quick snap I took on the way into choir practice. So I did stuff to it until I liked it. I really like the background.

And here's a little food porn. A young man who served his mission in our area a few years ago was travelling through with some pals. Had a wonderful evening visiting. They camped in our yard. I made breakfast.

We got this little construction set a while ago. Elina noticed that the barrel had an interesting caution (click on image to view large.)

Tim's work calls at all hours. I noticed a recent challenge was low key, so I've been looking for low key in my surroundings. I don't like the area between his nose and fingers, but I have no control over his movements.LOL (He didn't even know I was shooting.) I sure do love this guy.

This is a curled up dead leaf on our hibiscus. I'm sure most people cut those down once the blooming is over, but I really like the way they look all dried up and brown.

But no heartache on heartache. Actually the vase is kind of purple. Two of my favorite glass things in my dining room window.

Tim gets the fire going at sunrise so we can make breakfast and get back on the road.

As seen through clouds and the popped out lens of a pair of dollar store sunglasses (my amazing daughter's idea!) Without the clouds it took four layers of lens to look at the sun. Earlier in the day we walked up to the horticulture gardens on campus

We camped the night and then on the second leg of the journey the little car overheated. My amazing husband switched out the thermostat while Gage climbed onto the base of this lightpost and jump off. Over and over and over and over....... So grateful for man on bike that just happened to have same kind of car and diagnosed probably cause. Grateful for auto parts stores that stay open 'til 10! And are nearby! And will open up a copy of a Chilton's (we ended up buying the Chilton's, good thing to have with a 24 year old car.) Grateful to have just happened to have tools in the van! But mostly grateful for the amazing husband. :-)
May 18
Starting off on the long drive to see my Aiden and her little family. Gage and I took the van and my husband and other son took the little used car that we bought on daughter's behalf. It's exactly as old as she is!

This year Gage was VERY into Mother's Day. Started asking about it in advance: "How many days until Mother's Day?" Someone had told him it was 5 days until Mother's Day and he got it into his head that meant Mother's Day lasted for 5 days. So now he nows what "until" means. It's interesting the things we assume make sense but sometimes aren't as cut and dried as we think! So Gage made his Daddy take him shopping and he picked out white roses and the game of Risk. Pretty cool. He's made that jump from getting someone something HE likes to trying to figure out what THEY might like. We started a game but haven't all been around at once to finish it and it's sat on the table as the roses dried up under the ceiling fan. I'd been liking the way the board reflectd light, and then I saw that the roses had dried and cute the heads off, and decided to take this pic. I'm pretty happy with this as it's hand held at 1/25!

She was feeling a bit sore as the novocain wore off. This was taken while sitting at the Lebanese Restaurant where we had lunch.

Boy howdy did I sleep a LOT yesterday! I did happen to take just a couple shots on my way to the car at some point. So I've had to go with an edit of one of those. I love the way this town goes through flower phases. As dogwood petals drift over the ground, the flags have all come out. I didn't recall our yard having a yellow one, but I guess it does!

Gage titled the shot again today. I'm glad these roses are doing so well this year. The past two years they haven't bloomed well, looking as though they had got sunburned or something before having a chance. (I forgot to upload this here yesterday)

As we got home from grocery shopping, I noticed that the evening sun was slanting in just so as to illuminate the trunk blossoms. I've always liked the trunk blossoms anyway, but this was super cool.

Well, it's not great, but it's one of the best I got. Sometimes the equipment just can't handle it. Sigh. It was cold and WINDY! But so beautiful and definitely worth chasing!

I asked Gage what he wanted on his cake. "The DC Superfriends, candy, brown sugar and vegetables." He's been amusing me for 6 years and I look forward to many more. Oops, I guess if he'd noticed I'd forgotten candy I'd have said the buttercream decorating icing counted!LOL
And blowing out the candles.

Drove into Portland with Tim. First we drove way out of our way to look at a used car for Aiden and her little family. We got it. Then Tim's dentist appointment. Pretty much spent the whole day in the car and now have a killer overcast sky headache. As we were leaving the gas station in Troutdale, a truck pulled RIGHT out in front of me! It was a little scary, but at the light I thought the back of his truck looked cool. So that smoothed my ruffled feathers a bit :-)
